Red Natura 2000 es una red ecológica europea de áreas de conservación de la Biodiversidad. Esta rede fue creada a raíz de la conocida Directiva de Hábitats en el año 1992 con objecto de salvaguardar los espacios naturales más importantes de Europa. La división de las zonas de especial protección de Red Natura 2000 se hace entorno a dos grandes bloques: LIC: Lugar de Importancia Comunitaria. ZEPA: Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves. El sistema fluvial Ulla – Deza forma parte de esta Red Natura desde el año 2003 con el código ES1140001, y cuenta con 1.633 Ha. protegidas a lo largo de las riberas de 16 ayuntamientos. El río Ulla es uno de los ríos más largos y caudalosos de Galicia, su longitud es de 132 km y su caudal medio se acerca a los 80m3/s. Tiene su nacimiento en el Ayuntamiento de Antas de Ulla y tras ir recogiendo agua de muchos afluentes como el Arnego o el Deza desemboca en el océano Atlántico creando una de las rías más hermosas de Galicia, la Ría de Arousa. Durante un gran tramo este río es la frontera natural entre las provincias de A Coruña yPontevedra. Es un río de gran riqueza acuícola. En sus aguas y a lo largo de los diversos tramos que lo recorren podemos encontrar: lampreas, truchas, escalos… sin olvidar que el único río de la vertiente atlántica en el que se puede pescar el salmón.
NETWORK NATURE 2000 Nature 2000 is an ecological European network of areas of conservation of the biodiversity. The division of the zones of special protection of the Network Nature 2000 realizes environment to his two principal blocks: LIC: Place of Community Importance ZEPA: Zone of Special Protection for the Birds. The fluvial system Ulla – Deza forms a part of this Network Nature from the year 2003 with the code ES1140001, and has 1.633 hectares. Protected along the shores of 16 municipalities. The river Ulla is one of the longest and mighty rivers of Galicia, his length is 132 km and his average flow comes closer to her 80m3 / s. It has his birth in the municipality of Antas deUlla and after being gathering the water of numerous tributaries as Árnego or Deza ends in the Atlantic Ocean, creating one of the most beautiful stuary at Galicia, the stuary of Arousa. During a great section of this river it is the natural border between the provinces of Pontevedra and To Coruña. It is a river of great aquicultural wealth. In his waters and in the different sections that they cross it is possible to find: lampreys, trouts, entries … without forgetting that it is the only river of Atlantic slope where it is possible to fish salmon.
